Volunteer Nantucket is a nonprofit promoting volunteerism and providing the most up to date and current volunteer opportunities for the island of Nantucket’s non-profits.
After spending two years in the Midwest, Volunteer Nantucket’s founder Katie Manchester returned to the island she grew up on with her passion for volunteering in tow. With no informative resources for current and upcoming volunteer opportunities Katie saw the need for volunteer recruitment for the island’s non-profits and Volunteer Nantucket was born.
Katie graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 2009 and again in 2010 with a Masters in Organizational Leadership. Following the completion of her masters she was selected to serve in the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps where she spent 10 months in the Midwest completing service projects including flood relief in South Dakota, tornado relief in Joplin Missouri, and at a YMCA camp in Minnesota. Katie enjoyed her year of service so much that she applied for a second term as a team leader where she assisted with training the members to prepare them for their service projects.
Volunteer Nantucket is a year-round effort to engage the Nantucket Community in volunteer service and provides up to date and current volunteer opportunities in hopes to connect volunteers with the nonprofits to meet their volunteer needs.
